The Roof!

Well, we have finally made it to the top of the tiny tack house. The roof is getting it’s make over, and so far it has taken us 4 days to do so... hehe. There has been many obstacles that we had to overcome, but it’s looking amazing!

The roof has surely been an adventure... much longer than originally thought. We figured we would of had it done in one day, but we are on day Four of the roof already. The skylight took the biggest part of our day, but we figured it was important to get that part right the first time. We only have two days a week that we can really pull in the hours on the house, and then there are the 2-4 hours we spend working here and there the rest of the week, so if you are curious why there aren’t more posts, it’s because there isn’t much to share until the big days of work. Mostly little things like sealing up some gaps and insulating the windows... small things.

We decided to go with the Velux Fixed Deck Mounted Skylight. It’s about 21” x 27”. It’s on the smaller side, but we are living in a tiny house. The installation asks for about 12” above and below for proper installation, so this one was a perfect size for us. We decided to get the Fixed skylight because we really didn’t want to deal with any water issues, and since we are not professionals, we decided not to over do it. The windows up top of the house, all 4 of them, should give us a good amount of ventilation for our tiny house.

This will give us a total of 6 windows in the great room! How awesome is that!!! Plenty of light and an open airy feel to the place. I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to do this... it really has been life changing for the both of us. Makes you remember what is important in life... not stuff... but friends and family... the people who care about you the most.
