Foggy December... We Are All Moved In!!

Well, the big question everyone is asking... are you done with the house... no, but we are moved in!!!! We didn’t want to pay rent for another month in our old apt. so, we moved as fast as we could to get the inside mostly completed. This was just so the move would be easier on the kitties.

I used the leftover material from the IKEA Shades to make covers for the cabinet. It’s nice and lightweight and ties in the look of the house. Love being able to create something from nothing.

The closet houses our hanging cloths, printer, a few DVD’s and most of Christopher’s day to day clothing.

Also got started on the bathroom. We decided not to deal with the hassles of a black water tank, and instead go with a composting approach. All the toilet consists of is a box frame, toilet seat cover and 5 gallon bucket.

Built some under cabinet space for some dishes, silverware and dry foods.

I’m very happy with the way it turned out. Going with personal made cabinets was a nice challenge for ourselves and quite the adventure. I designed two pull out drawers that would hold our silverware and the other to serve the duty of junk drawer. Like it or not... we do have space for some junk... mostly twisty ties and charging cables.

The kitchen as been a lot of fun for me. I love creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. I didn’t want traditional cabinets for the reason of not going traditional. I love texture and playing with textures and making something out of something else.

I used stiff woven baskets for shelves, since I didn’t need that much space, just a place to keep my tea and fresh veggies. We keep the Fruit on top of the fridge, and hang the grilling tools between. I found a really cheap flower pot to house our cooking utensils.
